Saturday Hen House

Our home is peaceful on Saturday morning, especially if we do not have to go anywhere. The chicks are allowed to watch tv and my husband, The Rooster, cooks a yummy breakfast. I usually hide out in the kitchen with him enjoying coffee and visiting.
We have had a busy fall because chick #2 played flagged football. It was an interesting experience. Every Saturday there was a game to go to and practice were held twice during the week. His last practice was in the cold, but he had taken plenty of clothing to keep him warm.
I hope everyone enjoys there Saturdays. This is one that we have been looking forward to, being able to stay home together as a family.

Election 2012

I know that I have not written a entry for sometime. Life becomes  very busy for a mother for five chicks. There are certain times that I must crawl out from under my rock and stand on a soap box. The time is now for people, especial woman, to wake up and stop drinking the kool-aid. We must educate ourselves and stand firm in the truth. Our right, given to us by God the Father, is being taken away. For 39 years life has been taken away from God's creation. There have been at least 54,000,000 murders commented, lawfully, in these United States of America. Count those zeros again, six zeros, that means millions! Tiny wee babes within their mother's wombs are being denied life. Abortion has been an abomination in this world.
In the book of Genises, God created life. He breathed in the dust and Adam was given life. Then from Adam, came his helpmate, Eve. She was part of man and, with him, brought new life to the earth. God's command to them is "And God blessed them. And God said to them, Be Fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Genesis 1:28.
There are many sources that a christian can use to help them decide which candidate should earn their vote. I have listed three such resources below. The first is a talk radio that broadcasts in central Nebraska. I know both of the pastors that are contributing on the broadcast. The second listed resource is put out by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and the third site looks at life and women's issues.

It is very important that we exercise our right to vote in our country. Please, go and vote on November 6th.  The founding fathers wanted the people to rule themselves. That can only happen if we educate ourselves and know the issues. We must use the truth of the word of God to govern our decisions. His truth will always stand true and right. His word will not waver or flip flop.
The truth of our forgiveness of sins will always be where are hope lies. God loves his creation and he bestowed his grace upon us. We did not deserve it. We are all corrupted by sin. But God showed mercy upon us and sent His begotten son, Jesus Christ, to pay for our sin. Jesus's blood, shed upon the cross, is the payment for our sin. Our hope must lie in that forgivness and not in the things of this world.

A cool bowl

This is a cool little bowl. We inherited it from some of our friends who have older children. My little chick #5 is now three, so she had learned how to carry a bowl with out tipping it. She can walk through the house with a cup of water without spilling. Please do not think that I have a daughter that never spills, she does. But this skill is pretty much on her I can do list.

What if I only gave her bowl like the one pictured above? This bowl is designed not spill, a no mess bowl. Great for mom, maybe even mom focused, because is the child learning anything? Do they learn to carefully balance the Cheerios so they do not have to pick them up? Would other things then be delayed by a child using nothing but a spill proof bowl and cup.

These are the things that make me go ummm while I wait for the coffee to brew.

A New Year

We now find our self at the beginning of a new year. A new year means many things, we can improve our self, eat better, organize things, cook better.......The list can go on and on and on. Maybe we will make plans to do things, lists! Who does not like a good list? I know nothing feels better than checking something off of a list.

How about planning to die? Do we ever put that on list? Do we ever think of our death to sin through our baptism? Daily we drown ourselves in our baptism through Jesus Christ our savior. We must die in order for Christ to dwell within us and do the good that our sinful nature is not capable of doing.

"We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4"

Our baptism is the most comfort giving part of our christian lives. My children can deal with their fears so much better when they remember the promise of their everlasting life. They make the sign of the cross and remember that they are completely cared for by their Heavenly Father. How does their Father in heaven do that? By giving them loving parents, a safe home, clothing and food. Most importantly though, is because He did not abandon them in their sinful nature. He sent them the perfect savior, the spotless Lamb, Jesus Christ. He made the payment for all our sins. Not with gold or silver, but with his holy precious blood. That he poured out upon us, to forgive us of our sins.

Fears can be set aside because God is our Heavenly Father. We are able to trust in Him through our baptism. Christ, living in us, is able to have the trust in God that we lack. He is able to calm our troubled heart and bring us back into the safety net of Christ.

You are free to live each day in your baptism and have your sinful natuer die. Through Jesus Christ we are able to live in Gospel.
